The „Arlberg“ - the cradle of alpine skiing

Hannes Schneider was one of the pioneers on the Arlberg, which made skiing into what it is today. Principles of his „Arlberg technique“ from over 100 years are still parts of todays style. Technically the Arlberg has always been a pioneer: The first ski lift was built in Austria Zürs, and the Galzigbahn in St. Anton was the first designed for use in winter operation.

The Lech ski school, founded in 1925, offers ski lessons for children, teens and adults, for beginners, easy to sporty skiers - either in groups or if you prefer private lessons. The Membership in the oldest ski club in the world is a great honor. In 1901, the Arlberg Ski Club was founded, three years later the first ski race was held and in 1906 the first ski course. In the years that followed the Arlberg became a traditional winter sports region, which offers 260km piste slopes, 180 km off-pist and 83 modern cable cars and lifts.

The Arlberg is the oldest ski area in the Alpine sense. The association ski.kultur.arlberg has set itself the task of presenting this story.

The team of children's club Lech ensures that you will soon be able to ski with your small ones on the family runs in Lech.
